The schools for Advanced Studies in the Jefferson Parish Public School System are designed to educate bright and curious students who are intellectually and personally capable of thriving in a rigorous and academically challenging setting.
The mission of Airline Park Academy is to provide a safe secure and caring environment, where with high expectations, all students are challenged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our vision is that every student can should and will learn to lead meaningful purposeful lives as competitive participants to work together to make their community a better place.
Our beliefs are that the most salient and rich learning experiences come from cooperative discovery and challenging subject-matter. We believe that if we treat the school as a community we will create life-long learners, cooperative workers, competent teachers, and critical thinkers willing to adapt to a changing world for the betterment of the larger community.
APAAS expectations for students are student-centered and based on our Positive Behavior Incentive System (PBIS) using the framework word “Pride.” Each letter stands for:
The students exemplify the highest level of our student expectations of having Pride, being prepared, having integrity, determination and overall excellence.
APAAS embodies its purpose through its program offerings and expectations for students
by providing rigorous academic program, enrichment clusters, and extracurricular activities.
Students receive Spanish instruction twice a week. All students visit the library and computer la weekly. All students attend Physical education classes daily. Gifted and talented programs for qualified students are provided. Clubs such as Scouts, Chess, Academic Games, and Robotics are provided. We are refining and adding to our programs each day based on student interest and need. We are proud of the work our students and staff accomplish as we build our unique school environment around our Airline Park Academy families.
The expectations we have set up for our students help our students learn to life-long learners, cooperative workers, competent teachers, and critical thinkers within the community.
